Dr Rahul Kurup is a consultant and interventional cardiologist at Campbelltown and Liverpool Public Hospitals as well as Sydney Southwest and Campbelltown Private Hospitals. He graduated from the University of Adelaide and completed his physician and cardiology training at Westmead Hospital. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (FCSANZ). Dr Kurup completed an interventional cardiology fellowship at the London Health Sciences Centre in Ontario, Canada and sub-specialises in diagnostic and therapeutic coronary interventions including angioplasty, stenting, coronary physiology and intravascular imaging.

Research

He is actively involved in cardiovascular research and completed a PhD with the University of Sydney on the role of inflammation in heart disease and the process of plaque development within blood vessels. He has published his research in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at several national and international cardiology scientific meetings. He is also a Clinical Associate Lecturer at the University of Sydney School of Medicine and engages in student teaching and research supervision.

Dr Kurup believes in a holistic approach to patient care and has an avid interest in preventive cardiology and lifestyle-based strategies to reduce cardiovascular disease.
